Mr. Phillips is a trial and appellate lawyer concentrating on first-party insurance disputes, commercial/business litigation, and personal injury litigation. Throughout his two-decade career, he has successfully represented plaintiffs, defendants, and non-parties in civil actions within Florida’s state and federal court systems.

Mr. Phillips’s extensive experience includes managing and coordinating the mass litigation of thousands of insurance claims on behalf of policyholders and their assignees. In his business law practice, he handles matters such as breach of contract, fraud and misrepresentation, business torts, and shareholder oppression.

He regularly serves as amicus counsel on insurance issues of statewide significance and appears at Florida appeals courts on behalf of consumer groups. In addition, he’s testified on numerous occasions before the Florida Senate and House of Representatives about the impact of proposed health care and insurance legislation on medical providers and their patients.

Mr. Phillips routinely appears as an expert witness on the computation and valuation of reasonable attorneys’ fees and litigation costs, which he’s spoken about for the Florida College of Advanced Judicial Studies.

A Florida Bar member since 2000, Mr. Phillips graduated from the University of Florida Frederic G. Levin College of Law, receiving the President’s Award for Outstanding Contributions to the University of Florida. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida in 1995. He is a member of the Anti-Defamation League and graduated from the ADL’s Glass Leadership Institute.
